These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Lexiora — the browser extension, the web platform at lexiora.com, and any related services (together, "Lexiora", "the Service"). The Service is operated by the Lexiora team ("Lexiora", "we", "us").
By installing the extension, creating an account, or signing in, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. For how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.
Lexiora lets you look up words and sentences on web pages. When you select text, Lexiora generates an explanation, translation, dictionary entry, or encyclopedic summary using a combination of language models and third-party reference services. Features available at any given time are described on lexiora.com and inside the extension.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Lexiora (16 if you live in the European Economic Area). By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity carried out under your account. Tell us at hello@lexiora.app if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used to harm Lexiora, its other users, or third parties.
When using Lexiora, you agree not to:
Lexiora is currently offered as a beta product. That means:
We try to give meaningful advance notice of larger changes through the in-extension UI or email.
While in beta, Lexiora is free to use, subject to a daily lookup limit ("credits") that resets every 24 hours. The limit exists to keep the Service stable and affordable for everyone. We may adjust the limit as we learn what is sustainable.
We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, we will notify account holders in advance, and you will continue to have a free option subject to the credit limit unless you choose to upgrade.
You retain all rights to the text you submit to Lexiora. By submitting it (for example, by selecting text and asking Lexiora to look it up), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that text for the sole purpose of generating your result, storing it in your account history, and operating the Service. We do not use your submitted text to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for full detail on how data is handled.
The extension, the website, the Lexiora name, the Lx mark, and the visual design of all of the above are owned by the Lexiora team and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use the Lexiora name, marks, or branding outside of the Service itself.
The explanations, definitions, translations, and other outputs that the Service produces for you may be used freely for personal and professional learning. AI-generated outputs may contain inaccuracies — see Section 9.
Lookups are produced with help from third-party services, including AI language models and public reference APIs (see the Privacy Policy for the list). These services are not under our control, and their accuracy, availability, and continued existence are not guaranteed. AI-generated explanations may be incomplete, biased, or wrong. Do not rely on Lexiora as a sole source for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Lexiora team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) twenty euros (EUR 20).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct.
You may stop using the Service at any time by signing out and uninstalling the extension. You can request deletion of your account by writing to hello@lexiora.app — see Section 5 of the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your use of the Service creates risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced through the in-extension UI or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Spain will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.
